Principal Dr. Berina English

Hello Porter Elementary School Community,

I am honored and excited to serve as Principal of Porter Elementary School. This is my tenth year at Porter. I have truly enjoyed working at Porter as a Counselor, an Assistant Principal and now Principal. I am deeply grateful to the staff, parents and students who I have worked with over the years.  I am thrilled to step into this new role.

As an educator, I believe it is crucial to help every student fulfill their greatest potential intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Therefore, as the Principal of Porter Elementary, it is my responsibility to ensure that our students’ classroom experiences are positive and comprehensive.

To accomplish this mission, I will focus on three key areas:

1.    Providing Conducive Learning Environments: Creating spaces where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.

2.    Creating Engaging Learning Opportunities: Ensuring that lessons are stimulating and relevant, fostering a love for learning.

3.    Encouraging Application and Introspection: Promoting continuous growth for both students and teachers through reflection and real-world application.

This is my 27th year in education and my 21^st year in the Bibb County School District. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in both elementary and high schools. Witnessing the progression of my students from elementary to high school and then to college has given me invaluable insights into how certain aspects of education significantly impact their overall well-being, future, and community.

In working cooperatively with students, parents, businesses, and other community stakeholders for several years, I understand the importance of providing students with the best educational experiences tailored to meet their individual needs. I look forward to continuing our journey together.  My goal is to prepare our youth for the future by providing them with every opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills that will enable them to navigate life’s obstacles and succeed beyond expectations!
